A brand new year. To start over. To start fresh. That’s what everyone says, anyways. But are we really starting over? Or is it just a feeling? Social media is bombarded with everyone posting their New Year’s Resolutions. And don’t get me wrong, it’s great to set goals and work hard to accomplish them. I have a very long goal list that I’m working hard to accomplish!
But goal setting is more than just a New Year’s Resolution. It’s so easy to look ahead at the idea of a brand new year and a brand new year. How it’s going to be so much better. How you’re going to make so many changes and improvements. It’s also easy to look back at the previous year and see how things turned out less than ideal or not as planned. Which is totally okay! If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my short life so far, it’s that you never know what life is going to throw at you. And that’s exactly why my word for 2019 is “Embrace”. Just like embracing the fistfuls of sand with a toddler on the beach, I fully intend to embrace everything that comes my way, good or bad. Whether I meet my goals or I don’t. Whether I stuck with my resolutions or fell of the wagon. Whatever it is, it’s okay.
So for 2019, I’ve decided to ditch the New Year’s Resolution trend. Instead, I’m making a bucket list. I want things to look forward to. Fun and exciting things I can plan for. Things for my family. Things for myself. Yes, it’s similar to a New Year’s Resolution, but much more fun and a lot less stressful. Want to know what’s on my list? Just keep reading!
