When you dream of flowers and wait for Spring all year long, you can’t just skip a visit to a mountainside covered in bright orange poppy flowers. California had record amounts of rain this past year, resulting in the once-in-a-lifetime Super Blooms at Lake Elsinore. And when one of your good friends is a florist – probably even more in love with flowers than you are – you plan a trip to visit. We booked our flight and hopped on a plane to LA!
I crawled out of bed at 3 AM, way before the sun even made an appearance. The San Francisco airport was basically empty as we made our way through TSA. Landing in LA, we jumped in the rental car and drove to Lake Elsinore! Even arriving before 9 AM, cars lined the streets with people visiting to see the Super Blooms. I wish I had words to describe how beautiful it was. God does some really amazing things that I am always in awe of!
We spent a few hours walking around, then headed for lunch at one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever had! We still had the rest of the afternoon left before having to make it back to the airport, so we took a mini road trip to Joshua Tree! (Blog post coming soon)
I got to check two things off of my bucket list in one day! Was it worth it to stay up for 26 hours straight? Yes, yes it was!
