This spring, I’ve been totally crushing on all the dresses! I’ve got my eyes on bold florals, beautiful pinks, and over the textures – tulles, satin, and 3d flowers!. This spring, I’m going for “the bigger, the better!” motto!
When you book your session with me, you get access to my complimentary client wardrobe for of beautiful dresses and children’s clothes. If you prefer to shop on your own, I create a customized style guide for each of my clients based on their vision for their session.
I will always believe that a good neutral solid is usually the classic choice for times images. I also believe, that if done right, you can choose a bright color. When sa v schoosing a bold color, you will want to make sure to stick with just one. Have the rest of your family in more neutral shades so colors don’t clash. If you are hanging these images in your home, consider if the color you choose will compliment your interior. These images are meant to be cherished for a lifetime, so your outfit choices will contribute to the classic timeless style of your images.
When choosing a pattern, you want to make sure that you choose a bigger patterns. Choose big floral prints over pin stripes or tiny dots, that might not flatter as well. Similar to bright colors, you want o choose one main pattern and have your family in matching complimentary shades. Multiple patterns can be distracting, and the focus should be on you and your family.
You’ll want to consider how your dress will flatter your features. An empire waist is flattering because it hits the smallest part of your body. Long and flowy dresses are a great choice because they don’t sit tightly and the movement they create in images is beautiful. Consider any insecurities that might make you consider different options like sleeveless/sleeves or deep cut neckline/higher necklines.
Taking in these considerations when styling you for your session, I’ve pulled together some of my favorite women’s dresses for your spring family session!
I am in love with this white midi dress by Dainty Jewels! Neutrals are always classic and timeless for family portraits. The empire waist is flattering, and the sleeves provide a little more coverage. The high-low hemline and 3d flowers make this dress seem so elegant.
The sleek shape of this warp dress and the beautiful ivory satin are already to die for, but the slit and button details take this elegant dress next level!
Make a statement in this tiered tulle dress by Love Shack Fancy. Sheer sleeves, a ruffled neckline, and a skirt that falls in decadent tiers. The hand-dyed pink ombre is dreamy, but it also comes in white!
The Sunset Garden gown by Need & Thread might be what my dreams are made of! This romantic dress is designed with a blooming floral print, inspired by an early 1900’s hand painted artwork. Like I said, what my dreams are made of. Beautifully tulle in soft sunset hues with intertwining ribbon bows and intricate detail daisy’s. This dress is flattering and the perfect statement piece for you spring session.
